There’s a specific kind of energy that returns to Mableton every spring, and you can feel it most at the Riverside EpiCenter. We’ve all spent the winter looking for ways to reconnect with our neighbors, and this past Sunday, March 22, the EPIC Farmers Market officially brought that spark back to our backyard.
When I first stopped by the market, I noticed something I haven't quite felt at other local spots: a warm "vibe." It didn't feel like a chore or a quick stop to grab onions; it felt like a neighborhood hangout where people actually wanted to stick around.
Rebuilding Our Relationship with Food
I spoke with the market’s founder, Krys Cage, about why she started this mission. Her answer was simple: access shouldn't be a luxury.
"I saw a major gap, especially in areas considered food deserts," Krys told me.
"Families are surrounded by convenience options but don’t have access to fresh produce. We’re not just building a market; we’re rebuilding the relationship people have with food."
Krys’s vision is to turn this into the largest and most impactful market in Georgia, focusing heavily on education so we can eventually grow and maintain our own food sources.
Not Your "Regular" Grocery Run

One of the biggest hurdles to healthy eating is that it often feels like work. The EPIC Farmers Market flips that on its head by turning the weekly grocery run into a family destination.
It’s a Sunday ritual that fits perfectly into the local flow especially for the congregations at nearby churches like Word of Faith. I spoke with one regular, Mary, who says the timing is perfect: "I can run by and pick up fresh vegetables on my way home after church."
A Success Story: TCakes
If you need proof that shopping local works, look at TCakes. They started as a consistent vendor in the market parking lot. Because the community showed up and supported them, they sold out week after week. In less than a year, they transitioned from a market stall to a physical storefront inside the EpiCenter.
When we spend our money at the market, we aren't just buying a snack; we’re helping a neighbor grow their business.

Mark Your Calendars
The market is open every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Riverside EpiCenter (Rain or Shine).
Upcoming Events to Watch For:
March 29: The BBQ Smoke Show
April 4: 404 Day Block Party
April 5: Easter Sunday Market
