As our neighbors finish carving pumpkins and perfecting their decorations, we know the real question is: What's your costume this year?


To celebrate the season, The Mableton Common is hosting its first-ever Halloween Costume Contest! Why just dress up when you can dress up, have fun, and win free pizza from Positano Pizzeria Napoletano!


We're giving away two prizes of free pizza and salad (perfect for a family dinner!): one for the best Kids Costume and one for the best Adult Costume!

How to Win: The Quick Details


Here are the most important things you need to know to enter and qualify:

  • Who Can Enter: You must be an active subscriber of The Mableton Common (we'll check the email address).

  • When to Enter: Send your photo via email reply to the newsletter sent on Thursday, October 30th, 2025. The deadline is 11:59 PM EDT on Friday, October 31st.

  • Where to Take the Photo: The photo must be taken somewhere in Mableton. Mableton is a big area! To be sure your photo counts for the contest, take a quick look at our map of the boundaries here.


    Make sure a local landmark, sign, or recognizable street feature is clearly visible in the background to prove your location!

  • The Prizes:

  • Minor Rule: If the person in the costume is under 18, a parent or guardian must submit the photo and provide consent for publication.

👻 The Mableton Common Halloween Costume Contest Rules


I. Eligibility & Entry

  • Who Can Enter: The contest is open exclusively to active subscribers of The Mableton Common email newsletter as of October 31, 2025.

  • How to Enter: The participant must reply directly to The Mableton Common newsletter sent on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, with their costume photo attached.

  • Entry Deadline: All photo submissions must be received by email no later than 11:59 PM EDT on Friday, October 31, 2025. Late entries will not be considered.

  • One Entry Per Person: Only one photo submission per active subscriber email address is permitted.


II. Photo Requirements

  • Costume Location (Must Be Local): The photograph must clearly show the entrant in their Halloween costume. The photo must be taken within the Mableton city boundaries.

  • Proof of Location: The photo must include a clear, visible local landmark, sign, event backdrop, or recognizable Mableton street feature (like a street sign or local park structure) in the background to confirm the location.

  • Photo Quality: Photos should be submitted in common file formats (e.g., JPG, PNG) and be of a minimum resolution suitable for publishing (we suggest 1MB or larger).

  • Content Standard: Photos must be appropriate for all ages and family viewing. Any photo containing nudity, profanity, political messages, or hate symbols will be immediately disqualified.


III. Age of Entrants & Minors

  • Minor Consent Required: If the person pictured in the photo is under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must submit the entry. The guardian must provide written consent (in the body of the email) for the child's image and name to be published if they are selected as the winner.


IV. Judging & Prize

  • Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged by Matthew Stover and the editorial team based on Creativity and Execution.

  • Final Decision: All decisions of the judges are final. The Mableton Common reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these rules.

  • Prize: One winner will receive one Free Pizza of their choice and salad from Positano Pizzeria Napoletano (4409 Floyd Rd SW), awarded for the Best Kids Costume, and one winner will receive one Free Pizza of their choice and salad from Positano Pizzeria Napoletano (4409 Floyd Rd SW), awarded for the Best Adult Costume.

  • Winner Notification: The winner will be notified via the email address used for entry on Monday, November 3, 2025, and announced in the following issue and on social media by Thursday, November 6th.

  • Prize Claim: The winner must reply to the notification email within 48 hours to accept the prize, or an alternate winner may be selected.


V. Release & Usage Rights

  • Photo Rights: By submitting a photo, the entrant grants The Mableton Common non-exclusive, perpetual rights to publish, display, and use the photo (including the entrant's first name/initials, and Mableton location where the photo was taken) in the newsletter, on its social media platforms, and on its website for promotional purposes without compensation.
