Everything you need to know about finding open stores and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather

We’ve all been there. The gifts are open, the living room is a sea of wrapping paper, and suddenly you realize: We’re out of batteries. Or perhaps the coffee ran out, or you need one more gallon of milk for the holiday dinner. Maybe you just want to get out and get some fresh air.
Don’t panic. While most of Mableton takes a well-deserved break today, there are still a few "oases" open for your last-minute saves and sanity breaks.
1. The "I Forgot the Batteries" Save (Drugstores)

If a new toy or gadget is sitting idle because you lack AA or AAA batteries, drugstores are your best friend today.
CVS: 10 AM - 8 PM
Walgreens: 8 AM - 5 PM
Note: The pharmacy counters often have shorter hours than the retail store, so if you need a prescription, call ahead!
2. The Grocery Secret: International Super Markets

If you realized you forgot a main ingredient for dinner (like fresh produce or specific spices), the big-box chains are closed, but many international markets are not!
El Tio Market (1338 Veterans Memorial Hwy SW #120): 9 AM to 5 PM
Talpa Supermercado (1245 Veterans Memorial Hwy SW): 11 AM to 7 PM
3. The "Emergency Ingredient" Stop (Convenience Stores)

Need a bag of ice, a gallon of milk, or a loaf of bread? Head straight to the convenience hubs.
QuikTrip & RaceTrac: These Mableton staples are open 24/7. They are surprisingly well-stocked for "forgotten" items like milk, butter, and snack foods.
4. The Mid-Day Caffeine Fix
Whether you need an energy boost for the drive to the in-laws or just a quiet excuse to escape the house for fifteen minutes, these spots have you covered.

Starbucks (East-West Connector): 6 AM - 4 PM
Waffle House: Always open, always ready. The gold standard for holiday reliability.
5. ⚠️ The "Don't Waste Your Gas" List (CLOSED Today)

Almost all major retailers in Mableton are closed on Christmas Day:
Kroger, Publix, Lidl, and Aldi: All closed.
Target and Walmart: All closed.
The Home Depot and Lowe's: All closed.
Liquor Stores: By Georgia law, package stores are closed on Christmas Day.
6. The "72-Degree" Escape: Hit the Trail

With a forecast of 72 degrees and partly cloudy, the best thing you can do after opening gifts is get some fresh air. It’s a rare gift to have "hiking weather" on Christmas!
The Silver Comet Trail: Head to the Floyd Road Trailhead. It’s the perfect place to test out those new bikes, scooters, or running shoes. The path is wide, flat, and beautiful this time of year.
Heritage Park: If you want something a bit quieter, take a stroll along the Nickajack Creek boardwalk. It’s exactly the kind of peaceful reset you need after a busy morning.
Pro-Tip: While the parks are open, remember that public restrooms at trailheads might be locked for the holiday—plan accordingly!
7. Mableton's Favorite Tradition: Chinese Dining

If you’re looking to skip the cooking or your holiday roast didn't go as planned, several of our local Chinese restaurants are confirmed open today.
Whether you want to dine in or grab a massive order of Lo Mein for the family, these spots have you covered:
China Inn: Open 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Star East: Open 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
New Han Chinese: Open 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM
